Laparoscopic Roux-en-Y Gastric Bypass, but Not Rebanding, Should Be Proposed as Rescue Procedure for Patients With Failed Laparoscopic Gastric Banding

摘要

Laparoscopic gastric banding is widely used for the treatment of morbid obesity and is associated with many complications. Which rescue procedure should be used after failed gastric banding is unclear. We found that conversion to Roux-en-Y gastric bypass is feasible, and safe providing better control of weight than rebanding. The conversion to laparoscopic bypass should be now considered as the therapy of choice.
